Foo Chek Lee

Mr. Foo Chek Lee is Civil Engineer by Profession and currently the Managing Director of Pembinaan Mitrajaya Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of construction entity listed in stock exchange.

He has more than 39 years of experience in Construction industry servicing both public and private sectors. He is actively involved in Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) as the Chairman of Safety and Health Committee, a post he held since 1999 until 2016. Currently, he is the President of MBAM for the term 2016-2018 and one of the Board Member of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB). He is also one of the Director for the Construction Labour Exchange Centre Berhad who deliver foreign labours and local workers to construction industry in Malaysia. In addition, he also holds the Chairmanship of the Building Industry Presidents’ Council (BIPC) and Chairman of the Finance Committee for the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Associations (IFAWPCA). He was among the committee member in drafting and formulating the first Construction Industry Safety and Health Master Plan and subsequently his involvement as one of the council member in the National Council on Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH) for the last two terms (2009 to Feb 2015).

He is also a director in NIOSH Certification Sdn. Bhd, a subsidiary of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health involving in the award and certification of international standards such as ISO, OSHAS, etc. Besides that, he is also one of the member for both the Thrust working groups and the Initiative working groups under the Malaysian Construction Industry Transformation Programme (CITP).

​Due to his vast experience, he was appointed by the Cabinet under Ministry of Work as CIDB Committee Member to look into best practices in Construction Industry after some series of site accidents. His other involvement includes serving in various capacities in matters related to health and safety in Department of Safety and Health and CIDB working committees related to Construction Industry.
